Forgive others

Most of the time forgiveness is not an easy choice. Remember, you don’t forgive someone for his or her sake – you forgive them for your sake. Not forgiving means you allocate a rent-free space in your mind for something un -pleasant or unworthy of it.

Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting, nor does it mean that you’ve given the message that what someone did was okay. It just means that you’ve let go of the anger towards someone, or towards yourself. But that can be easier said than done. If forgiveness was easy as it looks like, everyone would be doing it.

Following are few quotes and sayings that will inspire you to forgive others and your own self.

CHOICES THAT KEEP US UNHAPPY OFTEN

“Forgiveness is not about forgetting. It is about letting go of another person’s throat……Forgiveness does not create a relationship. Unless people speak the truth about what they have done and change their mind and behavior, a relationship of trust is not possible. When you forgive someone you certainly release them from judgment, but without true change, no real relationship can be established………Forgiveness in no way requires that you trust the one you forgive. But should they finally confess and repent, you will discover a miracle in your own heart that allows you to reach out and begin to build between you a bridge of reconciliation………Forgiveness does not excuse anything………You may have to declare your forgiveness a hundred times the first day and the second day, but the third day will be less and each day after, until one day you will realize that you have forgiven completely. And then one day you will pray for his wholeness……”

William Paul Young

“People have to forgive. We don’t have to like them, we don’t have to be friends with them, we don’t have to send them hearts in text messages, but we have to forgive them, to overlook, to forget. Because if we don’t we are tying rocks to our feet, too much for our wings to carry!”
